This kind of thing is so far off the radar of college coaches. This is an extremely obscure compound with very little evidence of value as a performance enhancer. I think this is just a coach who believes the story a good kid* is telling him, has no knowledge about something so obscure, and can in good faith stand in front of reporters and something something must have gone awry.

*Yes, I think this kid could have knowingly taken this substance and still be a good kid.
