ND's approach to recruiting is flawed.

QB recruiting:

Rees is average. Nice job in getting Buckner, but then follows that up with a flawed approach in offering 2022 QB's. It's as if Kelly and Rees were happy with Buchner and thought it ok to fish for lower ranked recruits the following year. Don't want too much competition for the star QB!
Angeli and Wimsatt as the first 2 offers? What is wrong with aiming higher and offering the Top 5 QB's in the country? Kelly and ND don't even try.

Look at what OSU does. They follow up signing 5 star Kyle McCord with the top-rated QB in 2022--Quinn Ewers. They didn't just anoint McCord the future starter. Maybe that's why they produce better QB's
than ND. Real competition.

WR Recruiting:

Alexander is a weak link. Yet Kelly continues to employ him. In Alexanders's defense some of the problems with WR recruiting are directly related to QB recruiting. Top WR's want to play with top QB's. We all saw the talent disparity at WR when ND played Alabama and Clemson. Get ready to see that same disparity again when ND plays OSU in 2022 and 2023.

RB Recruiting:

Taylor started out great by getting Tyree. A huge win. But he has been mediocre since. Put all the eggs in the Shipley basket last year. Signed some OK RB's. But Bama, Clemson, and OSU all signed better RB's. Talent gap isn't closing.
This year it looks bleak for the top RB targets. Sawchuck will visit but OU is expected to sign him. Hayden will also visit but OSU is in the drivers seat. Singleton is the 3rd elite RB that will visit but PSU will be tough to beat. You have to hit on one of your top 3 targets here. Taylor will have to out-recruit someone for that to happen.

TE Recruiting:

McNulty needs to know he is at ND now and not fucking Rutgers. I think someone may have finally gotten in his ear with that message now with the decommit of Nickel.

McNulty has had 2 TE commits since coming to ND: Mitchell Evans and Jack Nickel. Both were rated the #23 TE in their class.
23rd is good when you are at Rutgers. At ND you should be signing a top 5 TE's just about every year.

OL Recruiting:

I have no major qualms about Quinn as a recruiter. I'm greedy and think he should sign even more high-end recruits--but this is one position that should be easy to recruit for at ND and ND is in pretty good shape here.

But the bottom line is offensive recruiting is not good enough--especially at QB-WR-RB. The elite teams continue have a huge edge here. 10+ years of Kelly and ND is no closer to closing the gap.
