because of JS and BK. Then there are corporate sponsors who honestly would pay up when there is actually a good product to buy.

Winning a championship would do so much for the university from licensing to even a boost in the academic profile. People should look at how much OSU has changed and grown in endowment and attractiveness to top researchers after they won their first football championship in 2002. The OSU president talked about it when he stepped down. We are talking about was already the largest Athletics program in the country. What good is a football school that is embarrassing at football? I can tell you I don’t feel like pushing my kidsto go there unless something major changes at the top.

But TV money would be the main reason. Just in TV money, he is worthwhile more than $1 million a game. What we could get on the next negotiation when we are a power instead of a Tier 2. Just the weekly Urban Meyer show should put up some real cash.

Urban is not worth an extra million per game

From TV unless we start playing a holtzian schedule.

People don't tune in to watch bloodbaths between Alabama and Troy State. They tune in to watch Alabama vs LSU or Alabama vs Auburn.

Percentages of alumni giving might go up a bit, but I don't think you suddenly see more seven figure and eight figure gifts. I.think the University could break even here if not marginally increase annual donations a bit, but giving is really decoupled from football.

Football is probably academically neutral these days. We aren't getting superstar faculty because of football, and we aren't losing superstar faculty due to football. And I doubt we are losing students to Ohio State or Alabama due to football. I think football is important to those schools as an amenity much like some schools have built a lazy river. This is important for schools where they are ranked. ND is in a much different space.

To be clear, I meant first championship since 1968
