Stayed for 20 years. It’s a reach to say UCLA sets their bar at a national championship, but they were in the top 10 in 9 of 11 seasons before Donahue started, and won a national championship just over 20 years prior. It helped that he did well in bowl games and was moderately successful against USC (10-9-1). In that sense he was successful by UCLA standards. And so I guess the point here is that apparently those same UCLA level standards are good enough for those who are happy with Kelly staying on at ND.
