The timing of the bowl hardly makes it any more difficult to enjoy Christmas. Even when wishing people "Merry Chirstmas" you can't resist bitching.

I didn't say it makes it any more difficult. We usually like to say Merry Christmas to site readers a little closer to the day, but since the bowl is on Christmas Eve, I didn't want it to get lost in the discussions about the game. No bitching involved at all.

You're right, you didn't say more difficult, you said "tougher". More or less the same thing.

And yet, "Anonymous", nothing was said about not enjoying Christmas, just the timing of our wish. So no, it wasn't "more or less the same thing".

It's to the point you can't even tell someone Merry Christmas without them complaining. If it bugs you so much, don't read it.

To BoardOps, thanks for a hosting NDNation! Merry Christmas, and here's to a bright Notre Dame future in 2009 and beyond. And Merry Christmas to the Irish Band, playing the best Fight Song of them all, the Notre Dame Victory March.

btw...I'm just curious Mike...do you have any rational explanation...why, with the money, history and alumni...how do we lose all those bowl games?

There has to be an explanation..but for the life of me..I can't figure it out.

Merry Xmas

I believe part of the issue is ND's popularity and draw among college football fans. While it's a positive in that it gets us access to the bowl system, it's a double-edged sword in that we usually end up moving up in class with regard to bowl opponents, which almost guarantees a lot of tough games.

If you look at some of the teams that have a lot of current bowl win streaks, they have some lower-echelon teams mixed in there.

Merry Christmas to the folks at NDNATION who do such a great job year round. Let's hope those who can do something about it realize how bad things have gotten within the football program. New Year's wish: ND will play with the same enthusiasm our opponents do in '09.

Mike...thanks for answering my question...

That makes sense..

I just can't believe we havent won ONE game in all that time...

BUT..I also remember us declining a bowl in Lou's last year..and we were 9 and 3..right?

We'll be back...I just wish it was sooner, rather than later.

I remember when Oklahoma was down...Bob comes in and in two years he's got a nattie..

How come we can't do that?

Mike, Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas to all of you at NDNation. I met you once in person at a tailgate a couple of years ago, but I'd like to do it again. This is just a great service for all of the ND family. I'd also like to give a shout out to Jim & Nancy Rycyna and all the gang in Buffalo, NY. Ed Lanigan '71
