Important notes on articles:

• Please do not copy entire articles into your post; rather, provide links to them.. We are now links-only for ALL Internet publications. If only a small portion of the article pertains to your post, Fair Use allows you to copy those one or two paragraphs, provided you cite the author's name and the publication for which he writes. Otherwise, put a link in the HTTP Link box.
• Even if you're copying a reference to an article, provide a link to the page from which the article came. We're trying to cut down on duplicate topics, and the posting process will check the link to your article to see if it's already being discussed on this board. At the very least, you'll save yourself some grief on the boards.
• If your first reaction after reading the article you're going to share is the author is uninformed / stupid / a jerk / all of the above, it's not worth sharing with anyone. Not every article needs to be discussed. The more the hair-pulling articles are discussed (e.g. ESPN Page 2), the more the authors will write hair-pulling articles.

Well, I didn't see that coming by Wass

As I was getting ready for work last night, I got a text from my good friend "Hooch" about Kelly departing. It was a bit of a surprise, though I haven't been paying attention to the off the field rumors as I have had some health issues to attend to. Anyway, the first thing I thought was, "What a dick move." Break the school record for wins (before those vacated), then move to another school. A slap in the face to the university and its football legacy. I can't blame him for taking the money though. But to not tell anyone that you were considering a move is douchebaggery. You tell your coaches and players via a text message? Really? I found it to be classless, especially when you say ND was your dream job. As for the next coach, if Swarbuck appoints Freeman as interim and he wins in whatever bowl game ND plays in, he gains points to be the next coach. But I don't think ND should take a first time head coach. I think Swarbuck has to act fairly quickly on this. Identify who you want and get the deal done. Kelly's legacy will always be questioned, but this is a real negative mark on it. He won't be remembered in the same light as Rockne either. Fans will always he bitter towards him. He has no real signature wins during his tenure. But he made his bed and now he has to lie in it.
