This is not a vent board or any other kind of therapy. Before you hit the POST button, ask yourself if your contribution will add to the level of discussion going on.
Important notes on articles:
- Please do not copy entire articles into your post; rather, provide links to them.. We are now links-only for ALL Internet publications. If only a small portion of the article pertains to your post, Fair Use allows you to copy those one or two paragraphs, provided you cite the author's name and the publication for which he writes. Otherwise, put a link in the HTTP Link box.
- Even if you're copying a reference to an article, provide a link to the page from which the article came. We're trying to cut down on duplicate topics, and the posting process will check the link to your article to see if it's already being discussed on this board. At the very least, you'll save yourself some grief on the boards.
- If your first reaction after reading the article you're going to share is the author is uninformed / stupid / a jerk / all of the above, it's not worth sharing with anyone. Not every article needs to be discussed. The more the hair-pulling articles are discussed (e.g. ESPN Page 2), the more the authors will write hair-pulling articles.

“What's not to like about what happened today,” Brian Kelly asked after Saturday’s game. Other than Tommy Rees’s “On the Waterfront” wanna-be look, nothing.
I really liked the idea of letting seldom-used seniors hold on extra points. Good one, Coach Kelly.
Watching Georgia Tech’s offensive line has given me an appreciation for the Irish OL
In addition to six sacks, the Irish defense had nine quarterback hurries. I wasn’t counting when I watched the game, but I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Jordan Yates was hit hard on every one of the hurries.
Isaiah Foskey got his 10th sack on Saturday, tying him with Mike Gann and Bert Berry for fourth most in a season by a Notre Dame player. Third place, Victor Abimiari’s 10.5, is there for the taking next week. Passing Stephon Tuitt’s 12 is doable with two games left, and it will be good news for the Irish defense’s overall performance if he overtakes Justin Tuck’s 13.5.
Suddenly kick returns are a thing.
Media question of the week: “When you looked at where your team started this year and where you are now, did you think you'd see this much improvement?” I would have become a certified Kelly lover had he answered, “No, I thought we would suck all season.
I mused about the Big 12 deserving a Pinkel nomination two weeks ago. A conference nomination is an idea that’s time has come with six SEC teams (Georgia, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, LSU, Kentucky, and Tennessee) preparing for their rivalry games against opponents their scout teams would pummel.
USC’s SID Tim Tessalone had some Hardin-worthy notes amid the bad news after the Trojans’ 62-33 loss to UCLA. (1) USC is now 10-2 in its last 12 home games against UCLA, (2) The 95 combined points by USC and UCLA today were the most in the history of the series, and (3) USC entered the game fifth nationally in red zone offense and was 5-for-5 today. A silk purse is a nice accessory, don’t you think?
Asked about Jack Kiser’s ankle injury, Kelly said, “Yeah, nothing structurally, high ankle. We feel pretty good about it.” Kiser, the guy with the painful sprain, queried, “What do you mean we?”
Who looks more like a halfback when carrying a football, Audric Estime or Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa?
Playoff clutter removed: Oregon, Michigan State, Wake Forest. Next up (or down): Michigan.
