Pac 12 depth/talent (and other conferences) by MrE

In the last 3 years of recruiting (2019-2021), the Pac 12 has had 10 recruiting classes ranked in the Top 25, or a rate of 28%.

Meaning, the 12 programs had 36 opportunities to land a Top 25 class over 3 years, and batted 10/36.

Like all conferences, when the top dogs are dumpster fires despite high talent levels, it changes the perception of the conference drastically, and rightfully so. Washington and USC being down makes the Pac 12 weak, to your point about Oregon + a bunch of mediocrity/garbage.

Comparing the Pac 12 to other conferences:

Big 12 - 23% (heavy concentration of OU & dumpster-fire Texas, w/ 6 of 7)
ACC - 24%
Pac 12 - 28%
Big 10 - 38%
SEC - 69%
AAC, MAC, MWC, SBC, C-USA - 0%

(that covers 72/75 Top 25 classes in 2019-2021; Notre Dame has the other 3 top 25 classes.)
