Since you asked, no. A new study showed 1/3 of Americans by Sorin107

had been infected with COVID prior to 2021 (link below). Certainly that number must be a lot higher now. Personally, I think it is hard to imagine it is less than 50%. This natural immunity seems to be totally overlooked regarding pushing vaccine mandates.

I know young people (20s) who got COVID twice and the 2nd time was very recent. The mortality for COVID, (much like flu) is quite low for them because they don't have the risk factors. Do they really need to be forced to choose between being vaccinated and being able to go to a concert? Or to a restaurant? Or show up for their job? Even though 89% of Israelis are fully vaccinated their vaccinated people are still dying. Wouldn't the vaccine be better served on someone in Africa that is 70 years old and has diabetes than on these people?

Just to be clear, my spouse and I both have been vaccinated. Same for my parents. But I would not vaccinate my children and I find it extremely surprising that so many Americans support taking away freedom for each person to make their own health choice for themselves, saying things like you did (e.g., for the greater good we must force everyone attending a sporting event to get a vaccine instead of just forcing them to wear a mask like Jack said). Especially when the most convincing data (a controlled, randomized, blinded clinical trial) was cancelled after 6 months so that we'll never accurately know how low the efficacy dropped to after one year nor will be know the long term health effects. And the Pfizer clinical trial didn't actually save any lives.

I am surprised so many Americans support vaccine mandates when the manufacturers hold no liability for manufacturing negligence. Or when mRNA vaccines are a relatively new treatment. Or when the CDC is censoring open debate even from US physicians doing research in this area if it doesn't fit with their proclamations. I understand it is a passionate subject for many, especially doctors like you who I think are the ideal people qualified to truly speak their mind about this topic. If you look at the % of vaccinated doctors vs % of doctors recommending vaccines, I believe that too many doctors are not giving us real straight talk on this really important topic. To be clear, I don't blame them personally. It is just disappointing that open debate is being prevented here in USA of all places. So kudos to you, fourputtmd, for sharing your opinions here.

The official ND statement goes well beyond encouraging masks but it rather requires it for non vaccinated people. Will all unvaccinated people following the requirement? No. But some will. There is an honor code at ND. Many if not most attendees are alums. I don't think we should overlook there are a lot of honest people who will be attending (to be clear, I, just like you will not attend due to my contempt for Savvy Jack, but for me these are all non-COVID issues).

I also am similarly curious that those who are extremely concerned about catching COVID outdoor will also wear the typical COVID mask. If they truly wanted to walk away from the grocery store, etc. without an infection protect themselves would wear an N95 (which are sold in stores again and are surprisingly affordable).

My final question that I mentioned yesterday was about how rational vs emotional people are when it comes to new information about this topic. I obviously was the first person to post these links at NDNation. These studies that don't seem to be picked up on the news. Do people think they are meaningful studies? For you, fourputtmd, thanks for weighing in on the one from yesterday about immunity. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this new study. Thanks and Cheers!
