if the players aren't required to go to class by jt

what would the need for an athletic scholarship be? How would title 9 figure in?

I'm not getting into the ins and outs of every school, I am just sharing what I have heard (and if you read the article linked, it appears to be pretty common knowledge).

To be clear, I don't like any of this stuff. I'm not sure that forming a super conference (or a "new" NCAA inside of the old one) really solves anything, to be honest.

The truth is, once we start going down this path, the only schools that really have much power are the ones with name brand, star power. Eventually, other schools will likely get weeded out and we'll be looking at a much smaller pool of schools and everyone else will be left by the wayside. The superconference idea being floated now is basically step one, whether they realize it or not. They're trying to offset the power of the SEC by creating a "better" SEC. It's only a matter of time (like we've seen with conference realignment these past 2 decades) before some of these teams start looking at their "partner" schools and wonder what the heck they bring to the (revenue) table.
