I don't know that there can be any cap with NIL being free. by OITLinebacker

I'm guessing that somewhere some crackerjack legal team is going to put together some sort of contract for conferences, schools, and players that hammers out things like scholarship limits, agents, etc.

Some form of regulation will come. I wonder if this was it felt like 110 or so years ago when the NCAA and the conferences and rules began to come together.

I wonder if this doesn't put D2 and D3 programs in an even more tenous state of affairs. Without limits on what appears to be a dwindling pool of players (from what I can tell there are fewer high school football players year after year for the last decade or so) will there even be numbers of players to make up some teams? I mean few enough High School Football players actually play college ball, so I guess more opportunities for the average player. I just can't help but wonder if this spells the death knell of more programs or if it is a shot in the arm for struggling programs as it gives a means to getting/keeping players that would not normally be in their budgets.
