The goal of March Madness is clearly to provide... by Kbyrnes

...an entertaining tournament for spectators and, in my opinion, a different kind of competition for the players than the regular season represents. I believe our difference on this, to the extent it's at all material, comes down to "What's it all about?"

I respect your concept, which I take to be to find out who is really the best team in the country as best we can. I just don't buy into it quite that much. For me, the current system's a matter of a lot of teams playing, some of them getting into the postseason, and one team making it to the end. If it's not ND, I don't have much invested in the idea that the "real" best team didn't win it all.

I feel like this might be drifting into "perspective post" territory, but instead I'd propose that my approach is just another way to enjoy sports. And I'm not really trying to argue or convince you you're wrong, because then I'd have to maintain that I'm right with more conviction about it than I actually have.
