Tracking top-end talent from recruiting to the NFL Draft by MrE

I took a quick look at the top 200 players in the 247 Composite player rankings from the 2016, 2017, and 2018 classes, and how rankings played out in subsequent 1st rounds of the NFL draft. Percentages represent how many of each group were taken in the 1st round. For example, the top 50 players from those three classes saw 25 selections out of 150 possible.

Here’s the breakdown:

Top 50 (16.67%)
51-100 (5.33%)
101-150 (4.00%)
151-200 (1.33%)

The 2018 class is still a work in progress to a large extent as those players just completed their junior season (Kyle Pitts, for example, ranked #162 overall in that class). 2017 class would still have some 5th year seniors that could be drafted in the 2022 NFL draft.
