I agree we should have come out with our third drive by KeoughCharles05

on our first two (though looking back, we did try on the second drive to establish the run. That series went run, run, pass, run, run, run, punt.)

But I'm not sure that we were just trying to run the clock down in the second half. Down 21-7, we were moving the ball, and the play that turned the game into garbage time was a pick where Book was actually trying to be aggressive for once.

Starting at the 10 yard line, we threw three times, and ran three times (one of those was a Book run that I think was a scramble, so call it 2 runs and 4 passes). Then we threw the pick on 2nd and 7. It looked like a balanced drive trying to move the ball the way we could. And down 14 early in the half, it was an approach that made sense. Assuming we got to within 7, we were still going to need another stop or an extra possession to get the game to a tie.

Down 28-7, we had an ugly drive that involved a roughing the passer penalty, a 14 yard sack, and Drew Pyne being inserted into the game with 2nd and 24. Hard to read too much into what the approach was here.

Then we got the ball back down 31-7 early in the 4th. That drive had 8 passes and two runs (one of which was a Book scramble, the other of which was a 7 yard run by Williams to pick up a first down on 2nd and 2). We went 62 yards in 10 plays in 4 minutes. Not exactly lightning, but also not an intentionally slow drive. This was the drive with the illegal shift taking away the TD.

The following drive we went 80 yards in 14 plays with 13 designed passes, and one designed run.
