I actually disagree with you on this by BmoreIrish

Bleeding the clock was the right strategy, even down 14. Our only hope to win was to limit their possessions and hope that we could score more efficiently than them. It was a long shot but getting into a track meet was the surest way to disaster. That drive you reference was actually looking good until the interception. What made that interception a killer was that it occurred on the type of play that Book usually excels at, namely, a play where he released to the right and had some room to either run or pass. Mayer was actually open, Book just underthrew it. A TD on that drive and at 21-14 Alabama has some game pressure on them.

This does not change the fact that Alabama was clearly the better team and that our recruiting deficit on the outside is unacceptable, but given the circumstances I thought we had the right offensive gameplan. The trouble is we basically needed perfection to have a chance and that didn't happen.
