I've never had an academic class by jt

that required me to line up across from someone else either, we agree there.

But let's say that there was such a class, or one that involved needing to be in close proximity. Let's say that there was sufficient widespread demand to keep that class going during this pandemic (and not just from the students). Let's further stipulate that if this class were to not be offered there would be wide ranging consequences for a whole lot of people, including students who don't even want to take the class and/or who don't care about the class.

Now, given those circumstances outlined above, what should the collective "we" try and do? Should we throw up our hands and make sarcastic comments about being entertained and basically concede that we're all out of luck? That is certainly a viable option. Should we just throw caution to the wind and have the class no matter what? That's probably not a great option?

Or--and bear with me now, ratinatux--should we explore all available options for having that class, including possible protective gear/masks/face shields and limit interactions with at-risk members (let's call them teachers and teaching assistants, just for giggles)? If it ends up being that we still can't have that class, or we can't have that class right at this moment but we might be able to in a few months, so be it but at least we made the effort?

By the way, the idea here that (posted below) that we can somehow have kids in dorms and in classes and maintain distance competently is completely laughable. I can only assume those promoting that idea never went to a college that had any sort of social life whatsoever.
