Not late in moving the game in my view by fortune_smith

Yes, it has seemed unlikely that the game would proceed in Dublin for a couple months now .... and at times unlikely that there will even be a season, which there still might not be.

But deciding not to play in Dublin is a big decision, as is figuring out the alternative venue if something bigger than Navy’s home stadium would be viable given attendance constraints.

Nothing wrong with waiting until early June to finalize the decision. Other events for which I have tickets in the first half of September have only started to postpone / reschedule within the past week, so this is roughly in line with those events’ timetables (and those are simpler, same-venue, new-date-a-year-out decisions).

As has been pointed out, interest rates are basically at zero, as in only minimally above 0.00%, if at all. So the value of one month’s interest on $500 worth of tickets might literally be zero or, best case, would struggle to make it to a full nickel. Net-net, the “right” decision was more important than a “fast” decision, and nobody was taking liberties with anybody’s money in this case.
