As an ENT doctor, I have seen patients with this problem. by ndlp

Alcohol (especially beer and wine) contains sulfites, chemicals and histamine which can cause nasal congestion and drainage. Alcohol also causes vasodilation which then swells the nasal mucosa.
Besides avoidance of alcohol, I have asked patients to take an antihistamine (Claritin, Allegra or Zyrtec) and have also, at times, prescribed azelastine nasal spray which is an antihistamine in nasal spray form.
This is not meant to be medical advice - just offering information and recommending that you talk with your personal physician.
