it is a good 45 minute subway ride from Penn Station or Grand Central and as mentioned in the article the games were 9pm read 9:40 starts. So for anyone from NJ CT or Westchester/Rockland Barclays is pretty much a non starter as you'd get home at 2 or 3 am. It's more manageable for people from Manhattan and LI but that is a smaller subset of the region. Newark/Villanova had the same problem in reverse. Good for New Jersey and Manhattan but difficult for the rest of the region. MSG is the only venue easily accessible to the whole ND alumni base in the NYC region.
In other words, everything a Swarbrick interview is not.
Kudos also to the reporter for asking actual insightful follow up questions like about his NBA thoughts. I suspect that wasn't on Mike's list of scripted, pre-approved softballs.
