Jessica Harris ended up 7th in the 1st heat where the top 5 qualify but since her heat was fastest she got in with her time of 4:12:14. Danielle Aragon was third in the much slower second heat with 4:19:13, right behind her sister from Stanford who was second.

You can watch the meet in the attached. The 1500 Heat 1 starts at the 19 minute mark. Jessica set the pace very fast and led from the start and was up 5 seconds after the third lap. She was past by 6 runners on the straightaway to the finish, but it turned out to be a good strategy for her to qualify. It was only half second less than her best time and I think she shut it down a bit at the end.

The second heat starts at the 25:40 minute mark. Again the ND competitor Danielle controlled the slower pace, led from start to the finish, getting only passed at the finish line by her sister and the Samford girl, who had the fastest pre-meet qualifying time. It almost seemed like by Danielle controlling the race time she assured Jessica also made the finals.

ND and Stanford were the only teams that qualified 2 girls each in the 12 person final but Oregon, Michigan, Arkansas, Washington, and Colorado have their top runner also qualify. The final will be held Saturday at 3:41 Pacific time and it should be a good one. Hopefully ND can run another good strategic race to get some points Saturday.

By the way if you want to watch Anna Rohrer's race and her interview it starts at the 2 hour thirty two minute mark.
