BK doesn't belong in their camp, but he sure as hell isn't an advantage. When you have 1 quality hire in 7 tries (including GOL) over 34 years, that's the biggest disadvantage of all.
I sometimes wonder what would've happened to program in 60's had NW AD Stu Holcomb not dissed Parseghian and caused him to decide it was time to seek greener pastures. Going back to Leahy's resignation, ND has had 3 quality hires in 11 tries. That's a batting average of .272 over a 61 year period.
Obviously, there are other factors involved, but, in college sports, where the HC is also responsible for talent acquisition, that's a huge factor.
