Fleck just signed an extension to 2028

Which means he is probably leaving. Extensions at places like Minnesota are usually about the school getting buyout $$.

Fickell would be great--but, he is no Einhorn. I think it will come down to whether Ryan Day stays at OSU or leaves for the NFL. I can't imagine an NFL team hiring Day (Chip Kelly tree), but you never know. Fickell might stay put and wait for the OSU job to open up.

Only Jack Swarbrick would think Freeman is ready to be a head coach at a place like Notre Dame after one mediocre year at DC--the rest of us know better.

Keep Bob Stoops and Matt Campbell on your radar. My money is on Fleck or Campbell.
