He's a higher rated recruit than Lewis is, for example. Hence my comment is the only hope we have for any kind of an upgrade at DB next season is for the best freshman CB this year to earn his way into a starting role next year.

The second best hope is a true freshman does it instead. A couple of the incoming ones are 4 stars that are higher rated than probably any we have on the current team.

More a lament of what you accurately describe as “best hope.”

The incoming frosh are not as good, either, ranking-wise. EDIT - actually it looks like Mickey is rated higher than Riley by 247 Composite.
Incoming ones higher than current starters though *
