To say we’d be a lock to beat Cincinnati…

if we played them again is a reach. Just because the offense has looked better against lousy defenses does not mean that it is really any better. Ditto the defense. I’ve watched enough of Cincinnati’s recent games to conclude that they’re still a fundamentally better team than we are. Starting with the most important position, the quarterback.

No matter what Mike Tirico and others are reading from their Jack Swarbrick authored scripts, it remains inconclusive whether Notre Dame has actually addressed some of it’s earlier flaws, or if those flaws have merely been disguised by the ineptitude of our opponents. I don’t mean to be a wet blanket, but I’ve endured enough of Brian Kelly’s smoke and mirrors to suspect it’s a good dose of the latter.

I guess we’ll only find out for certain when and if we play a legitimate bowl game opponent.

To your point, much is made of our 3 game streak of no TD’s.

What’s not said is that in that streak we faced a Virginia team that was missing it’s prolific QB
and his substitute was a QB that save for a few snaps this season hadn’t played in a game since his Jr year in high school. There’s no doubt that it would have been a much closer game. Armstrong was back this week and threw for over 400 yds. Timing is everything.

True. Bright side is we didn’t make the rookie look all

World like we often have under Kelly. We actually made the backups look like backups.
