I assumed Sports-Reference.com was consistent across teams

Which is why I went there instead of school-specific rosters.

But, you're right, I don't know that for certain.

I'd assume that Sports Reference uses the designations

on the school rosters vs tracking it themselves.

Since ND lists players by academic standing vs football eligibilty, there's a good chance the analysis overstates ND's reliance on older players vs other teams.

I think it might understate frosh contributions

But I'm not so sure it overstates ND's reliance on older players.

Last year, our 3 top receivers were:
- Javon McKinley (5th year senior)
- Ben Skowronek (5th year senior)
- Avery Davis (true senior)

In 2019:
- Chase Claypool (true senior)
- Chris Finke (5th year senior)
- Javon McKinley (true senior)

In 2018:
- Miles Boykin (true senior)
- Chase Claypool (hey, a junior!)
- Chris Finker (true senior)

In comparison to other top programs, those dudes are senior citizens.

(And, aside from Claypool, not very dynamic players.)
