To wit, 7-7 Iowa State keeping Iowa out of the BCS championship and Brad Banks out of the Heisman in 2002. And don’t forget the two consecutive potential game winning field goal blocks it took Iowa to beat UNI in 2009, after which they were a broken ankle away from an undefeated season and still wound up embarrassing Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl.
