Faust would resign following the end of the season and Shula would be brought in for 1984. According to the rumor, he had an out in his contract with the Dolphins for the ND job. Not long thereafter, he renegotiated his contract with the Dolphins, and the new contract included part ownership in the franchise. That rumor died pretty quickly after that.
