both brothers also played football at Mater Dei

below is a program to a Nevada Southern vs St Mary's (Cal) Gaels football game

Greg Huarte, a transfer from Notre Dame (ND Frosh class of '66)is the starting QB for St Mary's
Jim Huarte is a starting WR for the Gaels

both Huarte's are mentioned in 'Today's game' section of the linked program..& of course on the roster page

John Huarte's HS yearbook mentions that he was twice HS Catholic AA

Huarte was only the 2nd HS QB to ever to twice be named to the New World Catholic HS AA team

The 1st QB to be named twice to the Catholic HS AA team was Wayne Zdanowicz of Jersey City NJ St Peters....he came to ND in the 1960 recruiting class ..ND HC Kuharich recruiting Zdanowicz & passing on Cincy Purcell's Roger Staubach for that Irish class...

Zdanowicz transferred from ND to Rhode Island...where he was switched to HB
