Not now by the NFL and not in the 80s.

I know you know your stuff, but he initiates contact on the side.

For it to be a block in the back , he has to hit him in the back. The side is not the back.

And his shoulder works through Joe's side, not his back (which is why he falls sideways, not forwards).

I'd agree with you 100% if LT's hands touched Joe's back. They never did (which is why his arm placement matters, because it's impossible to use your hands on his back when he's in front of him) until they were both on the ground.

He initiates contact to the side, not the back.
