He doesn't have a classic release (which may be an obsolete term thanks to Mahomes}. It looks to me that His release is somewhat low around ear level and he almost "slings" the ball. I didn't really see an overhead release in the tape I saw. That may be correctable but certainly would need some time to adjust. Not as important a thing, though, as ability to hit receivers. So it will be interesting to see what they do with him.
