Offering 82 scholarships isn't the same as signing and admitting them. Purely from an academic standpoint, how different is it for an athlete to be admitted to ND vs OSU? What variables are different? GPA? SAT?

I, like many here, do not want to see ND turn into the old SWAC, but damn I want to see us be the ass kicker instead of being on the receiving end.

I can't help but keep thinking about how recruiting changed with the PTB when Lou offered Randy Moss a scholarship. They didn't look favorably on that, and hand cuffed him and everyone else in recruiting ever since.

ND doesn’t issue offers without performing due diligence *

looked at offers to the top 100. Using offers from BC, Stanford, Northwestern, U of VA, and a few other academic schools as a proxy for admissibility to ND, said poster concluded that about 80 out of the top 100 are probably fair game academically for ND to recruit.

They generally aren't offered if they can't be admitted.

It's possible some offers are conditional. But I don't think that's common. So, yes, that 82 is a good bench mark for admittable students.

Yep. This is the counterexample to his erroneous point. *

Do people think we've behaved like the old SWAC in the past? *

by the way, I don't believe that "SWAC" is the conference

we should be referring to, as that is made up of historically black colleges and universities, I believe.

I believe he is trying to refer to the SWC; schools like SMU, Baylor, Rice, Oklahoma, Ok State, A/M, et al.
