2. A relentless worker.
3. An elite recruiter.
4. If not a proven elite recruiter, articulates a clear plan to recruit at an elite level at ND.
5. An energizer that leads by example.
6. Articulate in how he communicates ND’s uniqueness, and ND’s unique opportunity to be the best football team in the country.
7. Self-aware and open to criticism.
8. A seeker of outside, unbiased credible opinions to make improvement a perpetual priority.
9. One who values disagreement, different opinions and new ideas among his staff.
10. A delegator that holds his staff accountable to the highest performance standards.
11. A tireless worker.
12. Well-connected with a wide personal network of talented people.
13. Married to someone who does not make out with his players pregame like Florida’s coach’s wife.
14. Calm under pressure.
15. Broadly experienced with a track record within multiple organizations, geographies, etc.

Assuming I have spent 3-4 years planning for this opportunity, benchmarking dozens of candidates quantitively and qualitatively against my criteria, and laying the groundwork (outreach and logistics), I am firing Brian Kelly today and announcing this new coach tomorrow afternoon.

Like I would have after the 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019* seasons.

*Or the Sunday after the Michigan game.
