So that's the point of asking for lists?

You want to go through and say this or that coach isn't likely to come here. So and so has a better job in the NFL already. Such and such has a $X million salary, and why would he leave?

So, when it comes to hiring the next coach, we need a guarantee that he will (1) come to ND, and (2) be successful. Otherwise, we should just do nothing. But when it comes to retaining Kelly, all we need is the vague threat that things could be worse.

The reality is that Kelly isn't going to win a national championship at Notre Dame. It isn't going to happen - not in year 12, not in year 20. And his tenure has proven that, even with him at the helm, things can get dramatically worse. I mean, maybe he follows up the 2020 showing with a 2013-14-15-16 type run. Where does another four-year stretch of mediocre, mediocre, decent, disaster land this program? What if he supervises another academic scandal and we have to vacate even more wins?

There are risks here from all sides. Doing nothing is a risk. Looking for a replacement is a risk. But we have eleven years of data on Brian Kelly, and it's high time we start acting like it.
