I'm sure I'll get killed for this but I think this is absurd

These are young men who voluntarily play a high speed collision sport with a 100% short term injury rate and a potential long term injury risk for a virus that is less deadly to them than the flu. They frequently play hurt and bear other risks, but now we're going to deny them the opportunity to bear this other risk? If they don't want to play, then allow them to continue as students and uphold their scholarship.

Of course, they could infect others, but if they're playing football, then they are in a structured, insular team environment with access to various levels of testing that would otherwise be unavailable to them.

Also, the Big Ten's temporary pause is patently absurd. There is zero chance that the virus is going to abate entirely by October or that a vaccine will be available to the athletes by then. Good to see that the conference of Paterno, Nassar and Schembechler is on the cutting edge of safety though.
