There's more at the link below. Montana was an up and down player, it's why he had such a problem gaining the starting job permanently despite his heroics in '75. He missed McAfee a bunch of times in the first quarter of the NC game. Nobody's whitewashing it or forgetting any of it including his fumble in the '79 Cotton Bowl. He was still central to that comeback from a very daunting score in terrible weather suffering from hypothermia. It's ludicrous to say he was a very small part of it. No one who saw that game as it happened or played in it would agree with you.
