Brother Rice in Chicago has been one of the best baseball programs in Illinois the last couple years. They've played for the last two state titles.

Cole Van Assen, one of their best pitchers, is now starting for Purdue.

WhereTF was ND in his recruitment??

Their stats page suggests that he’s started one game.

3 appearances with 1 start. Nice ERA though.

Regardless, you have hit on maybe the biggest issue facing “Northern” teams. Namely the ability to keep local players local. If Coach Stiffler can’t establish some relationships with powerhouse high schools around the region, he won’t be long for the job. You can’t rely on grad transfers and Coastal recruits at s time when the power base of college baseball is becoming more and more firmly entrenched in the Southeast.

Not recruiting good pitching, obviously. Does baseball have

I think we might be wanting one this weekend in our series against Link and FSU.
