My vet Dad, but their rates for people in my situation aren’t that competitive. If you’re a vet you get a better rate plus the subscriber savings account, which can be significant money in your pocket depending on company performance.

I couldn't bear to break up with USAA, citing the company's customer service as my reason. My wife laughed at me.
I called USAA and tried to negotiate the rate. The USAA rep told me I should cancel and go with Progressive. I was stunned. I didn't do it. I'm a sucker, I guess.
USAA's rates are no longer that special. Nor is its customer service. Nor do they do anything all that special for service members.
Still, its reputation persists. That's the power of marketing, I guess...
time they converted from officers only to include enlisted. A major culture change both internally & externally that I’m sure has driven significant growth but the value of membership has deteriorated along the way. Not surprisingly I guess.
