Miscellaneous Data: I am happy with the selection of Fr. Jenkins as our president. I think he will carry on the radition of Fr. Sorin and Hesburgh in advancing the unique position of Notre Dame in the educational and larger communities as a faith based institution which is tolerant, but also willing to proclaim its faith. It seemed our last president was uncomfortable with this tradition.

As to football, I first remember listening to the Irish on the radio at my uncle's gas station on Log Island, listening to Hanratty and Seymour and Edy and Conjar.

When it came to college, I wanted to go to Cornell. My mother said I could go, but that they would pay my tuition if I went to Notre Dame. I have never regretted my mother's wise choice.
