Not so much "recruiting continuity"... by revressbo

As much as recruiting, period. Rees might be able to achieve "continuity" but he's not a great recruiter. It's not about trying to salvage a class, but recruiting ability needs to be considered for the next head coach. Freeman also seems like a great motivator/leader/other "intangibles" of a head coach. The defense seems to have improved, but hard to know if that's actual improvements or the weak schedule; he did have great defenses at UC, but again, that's group of 5 level.

Anyway, sure, make your calls to Saban, Dabo, Day, Urban (if you don't care about the baggage, which personally I do a little), John Harbaugh, etc. Then, based on the list El K provided in his OP, I'd go Fickell then Rhule in that order.

But then, yeah, I'd take Freeman over the rest of that list presented (Narduzzi, Fitzgerald... not exactly the most inspiring names). It'd be a risk and I think there's a higher likelihood he'd have Weis-like results than a guy like Mark Stoops would, but I also think there's a higher likelihood he'd win a national championship than Mark Stoops would. And that's why we're ultimately here.
