That's a ridiculous conclusion. by tdiddy07

The committee has rewarded wins against good teams and convincing wins. It has punished bad schedules. It is quicker to forgive wins against bad opponents if it is overcome by quality wins elsewhere. It has done this consistently.

UM has won its conference games by 33, 21, 53, 7, 21, 10, and 26. One of those wins came on the road against No. 21 Wisconsin.

OU's is 5, 76, 7, 3, 6, 7, 21, 12 (while losing in the final minutes), and 31. That's a lot of close wins against mediocre to bad teams. And no wins against ranked opponents.

One could reasonably conclude that Michigan would've performed better against the same schedule and that OU would've performed worse against Michigan's schedule. OU beat Nebraska by 6 at home. UM beat Nebraska by 3 on the road. That's basically a push in common opponents.

I think both positions are defensible. But the Big 12 isn't particularly tough. And it's OOC slate let it down, combined with squeaking by 1-7 Tulane by 5. OU's best three opponents are all still to come. Wins there will jump it up the rankings, and the Big Ten will likely beat itself up in the next few games.
