Well, sure, but is this a good long term trend? by garbageplate

The Alabamas and Ohio States of the world will be able to circumvent scholarship limits easily and also run guys off when the NIL money suddenly dries up. I'm not sure that it will always be in the best interest of the players to attend one of these powers on an NIL "walk-on" arrangement, nor is it necessarily healthy for the long-term health of the sport. It seems like the transfer portal is about to become even more flush with players as a result and recruits at some of these schools will lose out when they get "recruited over" by talented players who can't see the field the loaded major power programs with 100+ legitimate scholarship players.

I also don't think this NIL trend is a positive for the overall well-being of the players insofar as these deals are linked to social media, which seems to be the primary cause of mental health issues among athletes and young people in general. It's already seeping down to the HS level, where kids will be transferring to different states simply to take advantage of enhanced earning opportunities.

None of this seems healthy or positive, IMO.
