We're still 125/129 in returning production by StetsonDan

If you change the analysis from Phil Steele's returning starts to Bill Connelly's returning production, we're still 125th out of 129 possible teams in returning production. He has us at 123/129 in returning offensive production and 112/129 in returning defensive production.

The only Power 5 schools worse than ND are Northwestern, Ohio St, and Florida. Even Alabama which had 8 first and second round picks has more returning production than ND.

I believe Connelly includes Madden's stats with Marshall but doesn't include Coan's stats with Wisconsin since they occurred in '19. Austin has no discernable stats to include since he has only 6 career catches.

Connelly (who writes for ESPN) has created a stat called returning production which is calculated for both offense and defense as follows:
Offense:
Returning QB passing yards: 29%
Returning RB rushing yards: 5%
Returning WR/TE receiving yards: 34%
Returning OL snaps: 33%

Defense:
Returning tackles: 56%
Returning tackles for loss: 6%
Returning sacks: 7%
Returning passes defensed (interceptions+passes batted down): 31%

Connelly's stats are behind the ESPN+ paywall, but are found at the link
