It's not 1988 anymore, but ... by CJC

The most important player on that team might have been the only one of the 22 starters who never took a snap in a regular season NFL game; if that's not 100% accurate, it's damn close.

My point is that I couldn't care less whether a coach wins with a stable of first round draft picks or a team of "over-achievers," all I care about is how the team performs.

And while 2018 and 2020 certainly are nothing to bitch about when each is viewed on its own (perhaps other than how arguably illusory the "greatness" of those teams was, thanks to Swarbrick's pussified scheduling), as a ceiling for Notre Dame football, they are completely unacceptable.

And the thoroughness of the thrashing Notre Dame received in the playoffs at the end of both of those seasons reinforces beyond a reasonable doubt that we have indeed seen Kelly's ceiling.
