2. It also helps that they are very talented.

That said, I think them starting this year really speaks volumes about how poor the upperclassmen classes were developed, apparently Patterson is really the only guy to stand out among Dirksen, Lugg, and Gibbons.

What's more alarming is you would think those 3 are prime candidates for transferring elsewhere for playing time, particularly if they'll have their degrees in hand.

This could be a really rough year in terms of the offense. It will pay dividends for the OL over the 2-3 years that follow, but I'll feel pretty bad for Kyren and Tyree who should be poised to have excellent years from a numbers standpoint, however it seems inevitable that they'll barely exceed last years' rushing numbers if they're lucky. And that also will mean some damn good improvement from those guys.

It's honestly a little bit inexcusable, given how much success this program has had from an OL standpoint, to field two consecutive classes with only 1 standout on the whole unit.
