I agree with your points. In the post to which you initially replied, I was simply responding to SorinBasement and making a narrow point regarding the comparative "worthiness" of playoff selection. To that end, I see no meaningful difference between the type of resume which has qualified Brian Kelly over the past few years and than of a few other multi-qualifiers like Day and Swinney. Nor do I think there is a lot of value in trying to dissect and rank schedules and "signature wins" when at best there can be some minor points to be made in favor of one over the other and at worst really none at all.

All of this goes back to the point that, if you hold any value in the two-pronged analysis which I posited to gauge the success of a coach an elite institution, Kelly has done more or less admirably in the first and miserably in the second. Wherever that combined grade leaves him is up to you.
