The Chicago public schools' football programs are almost by Raoul

non-existent now. They have terrible facilities. Low enrollment. Limited coaching support. Blacks who want to play football and live in the city must move to the suburbs and become part of a well-funded program. And those that have talent or desire do just that all the time.

My own local high schools has gained much diversity generally as a result of this ongoing shift (and the trend is bigger than sports). While in many cases the city families can't afford a home in the school districts they can afford apartments. While they lose space they gain dramatically in the environment and academic and sports opportunities for their kids.

I bet the number of black kids getting scholarships from Chicago suburban schools is way up from 30 years ago (just as blacks share of suburban high schools has risen significantly since 1997 - per a recent study). It doesn't surprise me at all that Lemming says CPS produces so few D1 football players.

But Chicago in general is not what it was in football because soccer and LAX are so much more popular. And two and three sport athletes are much more rare in the suburbs as kids push for expertise in one sport.

Finally, many blacks in Chicago have headed South, not simply out to the suburbs. The 2020 census will show the continuation of that trend.
