If I were King (or at least Tommy Rees’s muse), I would make the 4 TE set the focal point of the offensive attack. Come out and with an attitude that says “We are just gonna punch you in the mouth all day long”. Be patient enough to live with 3-5 yard gains on what equates to the old “electric football” push the line of scrimmage forward. Hell, throw in an extra lineman once in a while and go Wildcat with Williams. With shifts and overloads, I think it would add confusion for the Tide’s defense. Throw in a handful of audibles to take advantage of Alabama’s defensive adjustments and I believe ND can turn it into a grind it out affair.

Schematically it should be a favorable matchup for ND. If Bama keeps their smaller corners in, ND’s Tight Ends should be able to push them around running the ball. If Bama puts LBs in their place, then I think play action throws would be to ND’s TEs advantage.

Shorten the game, reduce/eliminate the negative plays, minimize turnovers…keep the Alabama offense off the field.
