Kelly had two comments early in his tenure that set by Goldhelmethead

The tone for me regarding how he was going to proceed at ND.

The first was his " we are shopping down a certain isle" comment regarding his lack of top level talent recruiting classes. Its been very evident from day one that Kelly absolutely loathes recruiting. I truly believe it takes everything he has to ask some of these kids for their football services. Furthermore he continues to have this odd grip on even the most highly recruited freshmen once he does get them on campus.

Secondly, after being asked about the pressures of being the HC at ND and how those pressures have directly affected past coaches physical health and early retirement, Kelly responded by saying that much of that type of thing was self inflicted and not the job itself.

It was clear to me after those comments that the new prepackaged soft core ND Football era was firmly rooted in place and ready to start growing into what we have today. A grossly manipulated soft served schedule that will normally warrant 10 wins and occasionally a taste of the playoffs.

Some of that feels cheap and dirty.
