My program memories date back to Carr, and the '81 S16 loss remains the all-time worst feeling I've ever had in following ND MBB. No other game comes close.

For 2d time in 5 years in S16, Digger tried to sit on a 14 pt 2d half lead too early, and, as in '77, it blew up in his face. In '77, there was the late drive by Phil Ford. In '81, there was...well, you know.

In '77, he had an epic recruiting class coming in that fall. In '81, that class was leaving w/o anything worthwhile to replace it.

It was a visible watershed moment from which Digger never really recovered in his remaining 10 seasons.

Damn straight

Danny Ainge should be itchy the rest of his life.

‘Reloading.’ Paxson, Sluby and Billy Varner (and I’m sure some others) returned. Like you said, ‘81 was a watershed year for Digger and ND hoops.

Take that, Danny Ainge! *
