If all three teams were 12-6 and ND lost to Louisville, as KenPom projects, then the first tiebreaker would be head-to-head records among the three teams. FSU would be 2-1, ND 2-2, and LV 1-2. I believe they would be seeded 3-5 based on those records, making ND the 4 seed.

That would also set up a highly entertaining rubber game against Louisville, Thursday at 2 PM. You might want to get a preemptive doctor's note.

Edit: We could also get there in a 2-way tie with Louisville at 12-6, assuming Florida State ends up ahead of Duke (likely) and Louisville loses to UNC (toss-up).

P.S. Here is the tiebreaker rule text- if others interpret differently, please weigh in:

(3) If three or more teams are tied in the standings, the following procedures will be used:

a. The combined record of conference games between the tied teams involved will be compiled. Ties will be broken, and seedings assigned, based on the winning percentage of the combined conference records. The higher winning percentage shall prevail, even if the number of games played against the team or group is unequal (i.e., 2-0 is better than 3-1; 1-0 is the same as 2-0; 2-0 is the same as 4-0; 2-1 is the same as 4-2; 1-0 is better than 1-1; 0-1 is the same as 0-2; 0-2 is the same as 0-4).

The flaw with this analysis

Is that it does no good if UNC, Duke and UVa finish 1, 2, 3.

True, but Duke has a very rough schedule.

Four road games, including UVA and UNC, and none against the bottom four in the conference. They certainly could play well and end up 12-6, in which case we are probably sunk (if we don't win out). I'm obviously hoping they finish 3-3 to go 11-7.

There is a lot of definite carnage ahead of us period *

not be surprised to see us sweep, because we have matched up well with them and this year was the only recent game that was close with them* (*recent being defined as since the year Grant went off for 12 points in the last minute)

Home game last year was within one possession
